Tough Week for 2nd-Ranked Indians


The Vidalia High School Indians baseball team entered last week as the number 2 ranked team in the state for Class A Division 1, but a challenging stretch of games handed the team 3 consecutive losses. vs. Ware Co.
The week began on the road Tuesday in Waycross, where the Indians found themselves on the wrong side of a high-scoring 10-7 shootout against the Ware County Gators. vs. Pierce – Thurs.
The Indians then traveled to face the Pierce County Bears on Thursday. In a tightly contested matchup, Vidalia narrowly fell in the first game of the series, 2-1. vs. Pierce – Fri.
Returning home to host the Bears on Friday, Vidalia struggled to overcome an early deficit in a 7-1 defeat. Pierce County came out swinging, plating three runs in the top of the first inning to take immediate control. While VHS managed to pick up a run in the bottom of the first, the Bears quickly expanded their lead with three more runs in the top of the second inning and tacked on a final run in the top of the sixth to seal the victory.
Looking to bounce back and reset, the Indians will travel to Metter this Wednesday for a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m.
