Crusaders Open Baseball Season

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders baseball team opened their season last week with a hard-fought 6-3 loss at home against the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars on Monday.

The Jaguars kicked off the scoring early, plating one run in the top of the first inning. The Crusaders fought back to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, sparked by an RBI single from Anderson Moore. However, Thomas Jefferson regained the momentum with a run in the top of the fifth and added two more in the sixth to build a 4-1 advantage.

RTCA refused to go quietly, rallying for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to narrow the deficit to 4-3. The late push wasn't quite enough, as the Jaguars secured the victory by driving in two final insurance runs in the top of the seventh to hand the Crusaders the 6-3 defeat.

Looking ahead, RTCA hit the road to face David Emanuel Academy this Monday in a matchup completed after presstime. The Crusaders will get a quick chance for redemption when they travel to take on Thomas Jefferson this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. They will cap off the week with another away game at Mount de Sales Academy on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
