The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team had a stellar week on the diamond, taking down the Red Devils of Hawkinsville twice and edging out the Falcons of East Laurens. The Vikings won all three of their matchups, improving their early-season record to an impressive 8-2. vs. Hawkinsville

At home on Monday against Hawkinsville, the Vikings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning following an RBI hit by Acie Dickens and a run scored on a passed ball. The Red Devils rallied in the top of the third inning with three runs to take the lead, adding another in the fourth to make it 4-2.

Dickens came through again with a double down the line in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4. The Vikings then reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning with two more runs, fueled by an RBI single from Gavin Bailey, to go up 6-4. Hawkinsville plated one run in the top of the seventh, but that was all the Vikings allowed as they secured the 6-5 victory. Jack Walker had a dominant showing on the mound for Treutlen, striking out 12 batters on the day. vs. E. Laurens Facing off with East Laurens on Wednesday, Treutlen took an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by DJ Steptoe. The Falcons jumped in front in the top of the third inning with three runs to take a 3-2 advantage.

However, two runs from the Vikings in the bottom of the fifth inning— capitalizing on a hit by Caden Parrish and a balk by the Falcon pitcher—put Treutlen back on top, 4-3. Neither team scored over the final two innings as the Vikings held on for the win. vs. Hawkinsville

In Friday's rematch against Hawkinsville, Treutlen was in control throughout the contest. The Vikings plated five runs in the top of the third inning, with Gavin Bailey, DJ Steptoe, and Michael Boone all driving in runs to build a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Hawkinsville put three runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut into the deficit, but the Vikings answered with three more in the top of the seventh to cruise to an 8-3 win.

Looking ahead, the Vikings were on the road at Wheeler County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Baldwin at 5:30 p.m., before traveling to Trinity Christian on Thursday for another 5:30 p.m. matchup.
