VHS Indians Baseball Has Busy Week

The Vidalia High School Indians baseball team had a long week this past week, packing four challenging matchups into a grueling three-day stretch. Taking the diamond against Appling County, Cherokee Bluff, Redan, and Kell, the Indians battled through tight scores, late-inning drama, and back-to-back doubleheaders to finish the busy week with a hard-fought 2-2 record.
The Indians are also currently ranked as the #2 team in the state for Class A Division I.
Appling County
The Vidalia High School Indians baseball team navigated a demanding four-game stretch this past week, finishing with two wins and two losses. The action began on Thursday against the Pirates of Appling County. It was a close game throughout, but the Indians managed to pull out a 10-8 win to start the week strong.
Cherokee Bluff
On Friday, the Indians faced the Bears of Cherokee Bluff. The Bears jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Cherokee Bluff held that advantage for the majority of the game until Vidalia finally got on the board with a run in the top of the sixth. The Indians could only manage that single run, however, as the Bears took the 2-1 victory.
Redan
Saturday featured two matchups, starting with a back-and-forth battle against the Raiders of Redan. Redan scored first in the top of the first inning, but Vidalia answered in the bottom half of the frame to tie it 1-1.
The Raiders added a run in the top of the third, and the Indians responded with two runs in the bottom half to take a 3-2 lead. Redan eventually pushed ahead 4-3 in the top of the fifth. Vidalia fought back to tie the game at 4-4, but Redan secured the game-winning run in the top of the seventh to win 5-4.
Kell
The Indians wrapped up their weekend against the Longhorns of Kell. Vidalia bounced back with a solid performance on the field, coming away with a tight 2-1 win to even out their weekly record.
