MCHS Eagles Secure First Win

The Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team notched their first victory of the season last Wednesday. They hosted the Twiggs County Cobras and delivered a dominant home performance. vs. Twiggs Co.

After surrendering a single run in the top of the first inning, the Eagles' offense exploded. Montgomery County responded by plating 13 runs in the bottom half of the frame to take a commanding early lead.

They kept the momentum rolling in the second inning, adding five more runs. This secured a resounding 18-1 victory via the run rule in just three innings.

Alex Danly led the offensive charge with four RBIs. Matthew Harvey also contributed heavily to the win with three RBIs of his own. vs. Wilcox Co.

The momentum from Wednesday's blowout did not carry over to Thursday. The Eagles hit the road to face the Wilcox County Patriots, and the Montgomery bats went cold in a tough 10-0 loss.

Wilcox County struck early, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Patriots' offense steadily built on that advantage, scoring three runs in the third inning.

They pushed five more across the plate in the fourth before a final run in the fifth inning sealed the game for Wilcox County.

The Eagles had a lighter schedule this week with only one matchup, traveling to face Jenkins County on Monday. The results of that contest were not available at presstime. Montgomery County will look to bounce back and get their bats going again as they return to regular action next week.
