Indians Over Jefferson Co.

The Vidalia High School Indians soccer teams split a pair of matchups this past week. They shut out the Warriors of Jefferson County on the road Tuesday before dropping two tough contests at home to archrival Toombs County on Friday.
Girls vs. Jefferson
The Lady Indians took control early against Jefferson. Ivy Berry and Emma Neal both netted goals in the first half to build a quick lead.
The Vidalia defense locked down the Lady Warriors the rest of the way, completing a 2-0 shutout victory.
Boys vs. Jefferson
The boys' match against Jefferson started as a defensive battle, with the teams deadlocked in a scoreless tie at halftime.
The Vidalia offense came alive in the second half, finding the back of the net four times. Lake Wright sparked the surge with a pair of goals. Marvin Onate and Dakota Brannon each added a goal to secure the dominant 4-0 win.
Girls vs. Toombs
Friday's home stand against the Toombs County Bulldogs proved difficult for Vidalia.
The Lady Indians were unable to break through the Lady Bulldogs' defense. They failed to register a goal as they fell by a final score of 4-0.
Boys vs. Toombs
The boys' rivalry matchup against Toombs County was an absolute thriller. The Indians captured the momentum early, scoring a first-half goal to take a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
The Bulldogs answered back in the second half, putting one on the board to tie the game at 1-1. The score remained knotted through the end of regulation and overtime, sending the match into a shootout.
Vidalia fought hard and connected three times during the penalty kicks. However, Toombs County was just one better, taking the shootout 4-3 to claim the narrow victory.
This week, the Indians hosted Savannah Country Day on Tuesday after presstime. Both squads will be back in action at home on Thursday, taking on Washington County with the action set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
