Good Week for Toombs Soccer

It was a stellar week on the pitch for the Toombs County High School Bulldogs soccer teams, as both the girls and boys squads delivered flawless performances to win all of their matchups. The Bulldogs defended their home turf against the Warriors of Tattnall County on Tuesday before hitting the road on Friday to take down their arch-rivals, the Vidalia Indians.
Girls vs. Tattnall
The Lady Bulldogs opened the week with a commanding performance against Tattnall County. Finding the back of the net once in the first half, they took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The offense caught fire in the second half, pouring in three more goals to secure a decisive 4-0 shutout victory. The scoring effort was a perfectly balanced attack, with Aubrey Gay, Kylah Gay, Kanijah Toby, and Deanna Gonzalez each contributing one goal in the contest.
Boys vs. Tattnall
The boys team mirrored that success against the Warriors, also cruising to a comfortable 4-0 win over Tattnall. Just like the girls squad, the boys shared the offensive wealth. Four different players etched their names onto the stat sheet, with Victor Valentin, Osvaldo Tinoco, Aaron Tinoco, and Daniel Santoyo each netting one goal to seal the victory.
Girls vs. Vidalia
On Friday, the action shifted to Vidalia for a highly anticipated rivalry clash. The Lady Bulldogs kept their momentum rolling, shutting out the Lady Indians for another 4-0 victory. Kanijah Toby spearheaded the offensive charge with a two-goal performance, while Aubrey Gay and Emerson Powell each added a goal to put the game completely out of reach.
Boys vs. Vidalia
The boys' matchup against Vidalia proved to be an absolute thriller that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The Indians seized the early momentum, scoring a first-half goal to take a 1-0 lead into the intermission. Refusing to back down, the Bulldogs answered in the second half, putting one on the board to tie the game at 1-1.
The score remained knotted through the end of regulation and overtime, forcing a dramatic shootout. Vidalia fought hard and connected three times during the penalty kicks, but Toombs County proved just one better, taking the shootout 4-3 to claim the narrow, hardfought victory.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs hosted Pierce County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action to defend their home turf again this Friday when the Indians of Dodge County come to town for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff.
