Bulldogs’ Season Ends After Battle With Jeff Davis


The Toombs County High School boys basketball team saw their season come to a close last week in the first round of the GHSA State Tournament, falling to the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets in a 61-55 decision.
The Bulldogs started strong, holding a 10-7 advantage at the end of the first period. But Jeff Davis rallied in the second quarter, edging ahead to take a narrow 27-26 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Toombs County reclaimed the momentum. They outscored the Yellow Jackets in the third period to carry a 39-35 lead into the final frame.
However, Jeff Davis surged in the fourth quarter. They put up 26 points against the Bulldogs' 16 to secure the comeback victory.
Despite the seasonending loss, several Bulldogs delivered standout performances on the court. Parker Stanley led the charge for Toombs County, dominating both ends of the floor with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Jayden Jackson contributed nine points to the offensive effort, while Qwan Monroe added eight. Cornelius Bullard, Jr. also had a highly productive night, bringing in seven points alongside 10 rebounds. And Deon Moore anchored the effort on the glass, pulling down a team-high 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Toombs ends the season with a solid overall record of 17-12.
