Indians Split With Portal

The Vidalia High School Indians soccer teams faced off against the Portal Panthers last week, splitting the contests.
Girls vs. Portal
The Lady Indians secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Panthers. Vidalia grabbed the momentum early, holding a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half.
The Panthers answered back with a goal in the second half. However, the Lady Indians quickly responded with another to seal the win. Giselle Garcia led the offensive charge for Vidalia by scoring both goals, while Claudia Meredith provided a crucial assist.
Boys vs. Portal
The boys' matchup proved to be a nail-biter, ultimately ending in a heartbreaking shootout loss for the Indians.
Vidalia took an early advantage with a goal in the first half and added two more in the second.
The Panthers rallied, finding the back of the net three times in the second half to tie the game at regulation and force overtime.
In the decisive shootout, Portal managed to slip four goals past the keeper, while the Indians could only connect on three, handing the Panthers the win.
Marvin Onate and Ayden Goss provided the regulation goals for Vidalia.
The Indians were back on the pitch at Jefferson County on Tuesday, with results arriving after presstime. Both the boys and girls teams will look to make a statement this Friday when they host their rivals, Toombs County. The action kicks off at 5:00 p.m.
