Eagles Drop 2 Region Matchups
The Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team faced a challenging week in region play. They dropped both matchups in a twogame series against the Telfair County Trojans.
Game 1
The series kicked off on Tuesday with the Eagles playing on their home diamond. The Trojans took an early lead by scoring a run in the top of the first inning.
MCHS quickly answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Rilynn Dees came through with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.
Telfair responded with a major push in the top of the second inning. They drove in four runs to jump out to a 5-1 advantage.
The Eagles fought back to narrow the deficit midway through the game. They successfully plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Trojans added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning. MCHS answered with one more run in the bottom half, but it was not enough as Telfair took the 6-4 win.
Game 2
On Friday, the Eagles traveled to McRae for the second game of the series. The Montgomery County offense struggled to generate momentum against the Trojans.
The Eagles were ultimately kept scoreless for the duration of the contest. Telfair took control early by plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Trojans continued to build on their lead late in the game. They added another run in the fifth inning and crossed the plate three more times in the sixth on the way to a 6-0 victory.
MCHS will have three opportunities to bounce back this week. The action starts at home against Twiggs County on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
The Eagles will then head on the road to face Wilcox County on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. They will wrap up the week by hosting Wilcox on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
