The Lyons Welcome Center is stepping up to offer library resources to citizens while the Nelle Brown Memorial Library remains closed while undergoing extensive renovations.

The Nelle Brown Memorial Library began its temporary closure on January 16, as the library is set to undergo an extensive revitalization to improve the facility and its technology. In an effort to continue to provide services for the library patrons, the Lyons Welcome Center is opening its doors to citizens for limited library services.

From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, computers will be available at the Welcome Center for library patrons to use and check out. There will also be a small selection of books available for checkout.

The Welcome Center will be closed for President’s Day on Monday, February 16, but will host story time events at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, and Tuesday, February 24. The Twists and Turns Book Club will meet at the Center at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, and a special Adult Read Aloud event will be held at the Octagon House at Partin Park, located at 109 Miot Street in Lyons, at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 23.

The Lyons Welcome Center is located at 124 NW Broad Street. For more information, call (912) 526-6445.
