Lady Bulldogs Fall To Saints

The Toombs County High School Lady Bulldogs fell 51-47 to the St. Vincent’s Academy Saints on Tuesday, February 3. Despite the 4-point loss, the Lady Bulldogs showed marked improvement against the Saints compared to their previous meeting earlier this season. The boys were off last week.

Taylor Bland led the Toombs County offense with 14 points, and Arianna Hill posted 12 in the loss. Tanaya Simpson added 8 points and 7 rebounds. Makenna Gardisser anchored the defense and transition game, recording a team-high 12 rebounds to go along with 6 points and 3 steals. The Lady Bulldogs' interior presence kept the game competitive until the final buzzer, though they were unable to overcome a late push by the Saints.

The loss moves Toombs County to 6-16 on the year and they are 2-8 in the Region. This is the final week of the regular season. Toombs was at rival Vidalia on Tuesday after presstime, and they will play their final games on Friday on the road at Savannah Christian at 6:00 p.m.
