The Dr. Tonya and Mark Spivey Public Library will kick off Black History Month with a celebration as they host the African American Author Fest from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 7.

This event is free to the public and will feature several local African American authors, who will be set up at the library to talk about and sell their books, and to connect with the public. “It is always a really nice event and a chance for the authors to share with the public and one another,” Ohoopee Regional Library System Director Cameron Asbell remarked.

Authors that will be featured during the festival are Paige Bowman, Dr. Nina Edwards, J. Nell Ford, Felicia George, Mikella Hansley, Betty Jenkins, B.J. Mann, Barakah Smith, Vertie King Williams, Robin Griffin, Ashton Bland, and Charleen Norfleet.

Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy story time, prizes, and other fun activities.

The Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library is located at 610 Jackson Street in Vidalia. For more information, call (912) 537-9283.
