VHS Wrestling Sends 5 To Sectionals

The Vidalia High School Indians wrestling team delivered a statement performance at the GHSA Class 1A Area 2 Traditional Wrestling Tournament held at Dublin High School last week. Showcasing the grit and toughness that define the 'Tribe,' the Indians qualified 5 wrestlers for the upcoming GHSA Sectionals.
Leading the charge were Area Champions Alexander Muzafarov (157 lbs) and Cayleb Sanford (165 lbs), who both dominated their respective brackets and secured gold with relentless pace and poise against a physical field. The Indians also saw a powerful performance from Torey Jackson (285 lbs), who fought his way to a third-place finish. Rounding out the group of Sectional qualifiers were Tracy Blair (150 lbs) and Christopher Cheeks (215 lbs), who both battled through adversity to place fourth.
The qualifiers now look ahead to the Sectional Tournament, which will be held at Toombs County High School on Saturday, Feb. 7. The top 8 wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the State Tournament at the Clayton County Convention Center the following week.
