Eagles Split With Telfair Co.

The Montgomery County High School Eagles basketball team split their games at home last Friday with the Trojans of Telfair County. The Lady Eagles struggled to get anything going as they lost to the Lady Trojans, but the boys pulled out a close one to get a win.

The Lady Eagles didn't have an answer for the Lady Trojans as they fell in a tough game on Friday night. Telfair jumped out to a 21-2 lead in the first period, and they extended that lead to 44-11 by halftime. The Lady Eagles struggled the entire second half and were never able to score any more points. Telfair led 48-11 at the end of the third and they went on to win the game, 60-11.

The boys played a thrilling game as they came out on top of the Trojans, 76-74.

This victory was a significant milestone for the Eagles, as it snapped a 17game losing streak at home dating back to last season. It was a true nail-biter down to the final buzzer. The Eagles' defense had to hold off strong performances from a couple of the Trojans to secure the win.

The Lady Eagles are 2-19 on the season and they are 1-8 in the Region. They boys are 6-15 on the year and they are 4-5 in the Region. This is the next to last week of the regular season for the Eagles. They kicked off the week on Tuesday at home against Treutlen County after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday night at Wheeler County at 6:00 p.m. and then will play at home on Saturday against Hawkinsville at 6:00 p.m. They will wrap up the season on Tuesday of next week on the road at Brantley County.
