Boys vs. Wilcox
The boys team fared better against Wilcox County, securing a crucial Region victory. The Bulldogs established momentum early, jumping out to a 13-5 lead in the first period. They maintained control going into the break with a 26-20 advantage. Wheeler found another gear in the second half, extending their lead to 44-28 by the end of the third period and cruising to a final score of 66-55.
Girls vs. Dublin Friday brought high drama as the Lady Bulldogs returned to the court to face Dublin. In a true nail-biter, Wheeler edged out the Lady Irish by a single point, securing a thrilling 45-44 victory. Nikita James was the standout performer of the night, dominating the offense with a massive 26-point performance to lead her team to the win.
Boys vs. Dublin
The Bulldogs boys team closed out the week by overpowering the Irish. Wheeler wasted no time, racing to a 23-10 lead in the opening quarter. Although Dublin managed to cut the deficit to 32-22 by halftime, the Bulldogs exploded in the third quarter, pushing the score to 56-27. That surge put the game out of reach, and Wheeler went on to seal a comfortable 66-48 victory.
The Lady Bulldogs are 7-11 on the year, but they are 5-4 in the Region and in third place. The boys are 14-4 on the year and are #1 in the Region with an 8-1 record. They have a busy final week to the regular season this week. They started with Hawkinsville at home on Tuesday after presstime. Wheeler will host Montgomery County on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and then will wrap up the season at Dooly County on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
