Boys vs. Savannah
The boys' game on Tuesday saw the Indians dominate from the opening tip against a Savannah Christian team that had previously handed them a loss. Rashad Brown set the tone early, scoring three quick baskets to jumpstart the offense. Jerry Roundtree and Brycen Burns both connected on three-pointers in the opening period, helping Vidalia race out to a 23-7 lead. The defensive intensity remained high in the second quarter, as the Indians held the Raiders to single digits again. Denarius Atkins and Dj Wallace added points before the break, sending the teams to the locker room with Vidalia leading 36-16.
The Indians continued to pour it on in the second half. In the third quarter, Rashad Brown continued his strong night with multiple baskets and free throws, while Lyric McKennie and Denarius Atkins helped extend the lead. By the end of the third, Vidalia held a comfortable 58-29 advantage. The fourth quarter turned into a shooting exhibition for Adrian Brewton, who knocked down three threepointers in quick succession. Kashun Coney and Tremendous Troupe also got in on the action, and the Indians cruised to an emphatic 82-41 win.
Girls vs. St. Vincent's
On Friday, the Lady Indians hit the road to take on St. Vincent's and started the game on fire. Vidalia shut out the Saints in the opening period, racing to a massive 22-0 lead behind a barrage of scoring. St. Vincent's managed to rally in the second quarter, cutting the Vidalia lead to 31-22 at the halftime break. However, the Lady Indians regained control in the second half to secure the win. Tori Polke led the offensive effort with a game-high 17 points. Mischa Wardlaw added 16 points, and Takaiyah Bacon contributed 13 points as Vidalia pulled away for a 56-35 victory.
The Lady Indians are 14-6 on the season and sit at #1 in the Region with a 9-0 record. The boys are currently ranked #6 in the state with a record of 17-2 and they are also #1 in the Region with a 6-1 record. This week the Indians were are Tattnall County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at Woodville-Tompkins at 6:00 p.m. Next week they will wrap up the regular season against Toombs County and Savannah Country Day.
