Weekend Shooting in Wheeler County

One man lost his life in a weekend shooting in Wheeler County early Saturday morning, January 24.

Wheeler County deputies were dispatched to an area near the railroad on Hole Spur Road at around 3 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arriving, deputies found a man deceased with apparent gunshot wounds.

Wheeler County Sheriff Glenn Giles assured that the agency is working alongside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to investigate the situation.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed.
