JANUARY HOSTESSES – Mt. Vernon Garden Club Hostesses Carolyn Hamilton (left), Sharone Carpenter (center), and Darlene Avery (right) were praised for their beautiful table arrangement during the January meeting of the Mt. Vernon Garden Club.

Members of the Mt Vernon Garden Club came together for the first time of 2026 on Tuesday, January 13, in the Garden Room of Brewton-Parker Christian University's Student Center, and it was strictly business — January is always reserved just for business.

President Linda Page called the meeting to order, acknowledging hostesses Carolyn Hamilton, Sharone Carpenter, and Darlene Avery, and the beautiful flower arrangement that adorned the table. Vice President Carolyn Hamilton recognized members who had January birthdays. She also shared with the members that the flowers for January are the carnation (symbol of love and devotion) and the snowdrop (symbol of hope and new beginnings).

Member Susan Beard shared a devotional that not only are we celebrating a new year, but it is also a time for renewal. Following the devotional, a buffet luncheon was served. Following the meal, minutes from the November meeting were passed out. The Treasurer's report was given, and new officers for the next two years were nominated and approved. There was also a discussion concerning future programs. After each committee gave its report, the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be held on February 10.
