City of Lyons officials recently presented Rural Roots Beauty Bar with a BOOST Grant to help fund their renovation of their location on SW Broad Street.

Over the last year, Rural Roots has moved its location from downtown Vidalia to downtown Lyons, renovating one of the open spaces on the downtown block. To help alleviate some of the financial burden from these renovations, the Lyons Main Street Association presented the Rural Roots staff with a BOOST Grant totaling $1,500.

“Lyons Main Street Association is pleased to announce Rural Roots Beauty Bar as a recipient of Boost Grant,” Lyons Community Development Director Jessica Barfield emphasized. “Rural Roots was established in 2021, originally located in downtown Vidalia. This beauty bar salon specializes in women’s hair services, including cuts, colors, etc. They have a barber on staff offering haircuts for men, as well as a technician providing nail services and facials.”

She continued, “In spring of 2025, owners Casey Williams and Jennifer Brown made the decision to relocate Rural Roots to downtown Lyons, officially reopening in April 2025. Casey and Jennifer made many renovations to the space, making it their very own. They applied for and received the BOOST Improvement Matching Grant from Lyons Main Street Association. This program is for commercial tenants or commercial property owners in a specified area. They may receive reimbursements of 50% (not to exceed $1500) of specific types of approved renovations. The City of Lyons and Lyons Main Street Association are excited to have them in our downtown family.”

This renovation is one way that Barfield said that citizens, business owners, and city officials are working to improve the city. “We have several projects in the works and are very excited for the overall economic development, in downtown Lyons and the City of Lyons as a whole,” Barfield assured.

The Boost Grant is available to downtown businesses working to renovate or improve their location’s façade or appearance. For more information, contact the Lyons Main Street office at (912) 526-6445.
