VRD Spring Registration Open
Registration is now open for the Vidalia Recreation Department’s 2026 baseball, softball, and tee ball season. Players may sign up through February 2. The registration fee is $45 per player, and payment is accepted via cash, check, or card, though card payments include a convenience fee. To register, visit secure.rec1.com, call 912537-7913, or stop by the office at 102 Stockyard Road.
Leagues are organized by age, with a control date of June 30, 2026, for most groups, while the 3-yearold cutoff date is January 1, 2026. The department offers 4U Coed for ages 3-4, 6U for ages 5-6, 8U for ages 7-8, 10U for ages 9-10, 12U for ages 11-12, and 14U for ages 13-14.
Evaluations start on February 5 for 8U, followed by 10U on February 9 and 12U on February 10. Tee Ball leagues do not have evaluations. Once teams are set, practices will begin the week of February 16, and opening games are scheduled for March 19 and 20. The season will pause for Spring Break from March 30 to April 3 and again for the Vidalia Onion Festival from April 22 to April 26.
Equipment requirements vary by league. For 3/4U Coed and 6U, a glove is required, but baseball pants, cleats, helmets, and bats are optional; regular shorts and tennis shoes are fine. In the 8U, 10U, and 12U leagues, players must have gray, white, or black pants, a glove, and a helmet. Cleats and bats are optional, but boys must use a USA Stamp bat if they bring their own. For 12U specifically, cleats must be molded as metal cleats are not allowed.
