TCHS Bulldogs Dominate Region 3A-D1 Honors
Toombs County High School is celebrating a massive haul of postseason accolades following the 2025 football season, which saw them end as Region Champions and State Runnerup. The Bulldogs were well-represented in the Georgia High School Association Region 3A–Division I selections, a testament to the team’s hard work and the support of the Toombs County community. Leading the charge was Head Coach Buddy Martin, who was named the Region Coach of the Year, setting the tone for a squad that saw 3 players take home top individual superlatives.
The Bulldogs swept the major player awards on both sides of the ball. Justin Powell earned the title of Offensive Player of the Year, while Hayden Roy was named Defensive Player of the Year. Rounding out the top honors, Alex Scott was recognized as the Athlete of the Year for his versatile contributions.
Toombs County’s dominance was evident in the First Team selections, where 13 players were honored. On offense, quarterback Joseph Owens led the group, joined by wide receiver Gavin Fletcher and tight end Justice Wilds. The offensive line was represented by RJ Langston and Ar'Xavier Taylor, with Alex Otero selected as the kicker. The First Team defense was equally impressive, featuring defensive linemen Jamarcus Johnson, Hayden Bullard, and Zaylen Davis. They were backed by linebackers Kareem Palmer and Slade McDonald, while Nick Carroll and Deon Moore locked down the secondary as defensive backs.
The depth of the roster was further highlighted by the Second Team and Honorable Mention selections. Second Team offensive honors went to wide receiver Brandon Stevens and linemen Landon Lewis and JJ Pacheco. On the defensive side, lineman DJ Jordan, linebackers MJ Burton and Kyrell Williams, and defensive back Donterrius Mincey all earned Second Team spots. Additionally, offensive lineman Brody Benton, running back Zay Walton, and linebacker Carmelo Ricks received Honorable Mentions for their solid play.
The school district released a statement noting that this recognition reflects the players' hard work, discipline, and commitment throughout the season. They congratulated these students on representing Toombs County with excellence on and off the field.
