Vidalia Wrestlers Battle Tough Fields In North Georgia Tournaments

The Vidalia High School Indian wrestling teams traveled to North Georgia this past weekend, facing stiff competition at 2 major holiday tournaments.
Girls
The Lady Indians took to the mats at the Lady Raider Classic at North Forsyth High School. Four wrestlers represented the program, led by Messiah Salem. Competing in the 125-pound bracket, Salem secured a 2nd place finish, proving herself as one of the top wrestlers in the field.
Boys
The boys’ team competed in the rugged Hook’em Holiday Clash at Lambert High School, navigating a massive 41team bracket described as one of the toughest of the year. Ten Indians saw action, with 2 earning podium spots. Cayleb Sanford took home 4th place in the 165-pound weight class, while Alexander Muzafarov finished 5th at 157 pounds.
'This is the toughest tournament we compete in all year, and our kids proved they belong on this stage,' Coach Bobby Blount said regarding the boys' performance at Lambert. 'With 10 wrestlers getting matches here, including podium finishes from Alexander and Cayleb, we’re excited about where this team can go the rest of the season.'
