VHS Wrestlers Have Solid Week


The Vidalia Lady Indians wrestling team faced a daunting field of over 340 competitors at the Lady Panther Invitational this weekend, while the boys’ varsity squad powered through a 13-team field to secure a top-ten finish at the Shamrock Scuffle in Dublin. Lady Indians Battle Elite Field in Jackson County The Lady Indians traveled to Jackson County High School to compete in the Lady Panther Invitational, which has earned a reputation as one of the most grueling girls' wrestling tournaments in Georgia. With 27 teams represented and a massive pool of competitors, the mats were filled with the state's top talent.
Despite the intense level of competition, the Lady Indians battled hard throughout the weekend to finish 22nd overall. Two Vidalia athletes fought their way onto the podium to represent the program with toughness and pride. Zakhia White delivered a standout performance to place 3rd in the 235 lbs division, while Messiah Salem earned a hard-fought 4th place finish at 125 lbs.
Indians Secure 7th Place at Shamrock Scuffle
The Vidalia boys’ team saw similar success in Dublin, competing in the Shamrock Scuffle at Dublin High School. Matched up against 13 other programs, the Indians showcased depth across their lineup to finish 7th in the overall team standings.
The weekend was highlighted by Dylan Kicklighter, who put on a dominant display to take 1st place in the 144 lbs weight class. Joining him at the top of the individual standings was Cayleb Sanford, who finished 2nd at 175 lbs. Their performances, supported by strong efforts from the rest of the roster, allowed the Indians to walk away with a successful weekend of mat time as they continue their mid-season push.
