VHS To Host Christmas Classic

The Vidalia High School Indians and Lady Indians varsity basketball teams enjoyed a successful road stretch last week, but now they return home to the 'Indian Territory' for one of the most anticipated events of the season. The varsity squads are set to host the Paul Thigpen Christmas Classic this weekend, bringing a massive slate of regional talent to Vidalia for two days of high-intensity hoops.

Friday, December 26: Opening Day Matchups The tournament kicks off on Friday afternoon, featuring six games that highlight some of the best programs in South Georgia and beyond. The action starts at 12:30 PM with the Telfair County girls taking on Tattnall County. Following that, at 2:00 PM, the Burke County boys will face off against local rival Toombs County. The mid-afternoon slot at 3:30 PM features the Statesboro girls against the Burke County girls, followed by a crossstate showdown at 5:00 PM as Paxon, FL, travels in to take on the Telfair County boys.

The evening sessions belong to the home crowd. The Vidalia Lady Indians will take the court at 6:30 PM for a tough matchup against the Coffee girls. To close out the first night of the Classic, the Vidalia Indians boys will tip off at 8:00 PM in a highly anticipated battle against the Coffee boys. Saturday, December 27: Tournament Finales The competition continues Saturday with another six-game schedule. Tattnall County and Statesboro girls will lead things off at 12:30 PM, followed by the Toombs County boys meeting Paxon, FL, at 2:00 PM. The afternoon remains busy as the Burke County girls play the Coffee girls at 3:30 PM, and the Burke County boys take on the Coffee boys at 5:00 PM.

Vidalia once again headlines the late-night double-header to wrap up the tournament. The Lady Indians return to the hardwood at 6:30 PM to face Telfair County. The grand finale of the Paul Thigpen Christmas Classic will see the Vidalia boys battle it out with the Telfair County boys at 8:00 PM.
