Toombs Sweeps Montgomery County
The Toombs County High School basketball teams were in action twice last week, traveling to Montgomery County on Thursday before hosting Tattnall County on Friday. The Bulldogs secured a pair of victories against the Eagles, while the teams split results against the Warriors to close out the week.
Girls vs. MCHS
In Thursday’s road contest against the Montgomery County Eagles, the Lady Bulldogs pulled away to secure a dominant 43-22 victory. Arianna Hill led the charge for Toombs with a teamhigh 17 points.
Boys vs. MCHS
The boys team completed the sweep of Montgomery County with a 60-45 win. Toombs held a slim 14-13 advantage after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 29-23 by halftime. The Bulldogs broke the game open with a strong third quarter, jumping ahead 52-32 before cruising to the final margin. Parker Stanley paced the offense with 21 points, while Qwan Monroe added 14 points.
Girls vs. Tattnall
On Friday, the teams returned home to face the Tattnall County Warriors. The Lady Bulldogs struggled to keep pace in the opener, falling 79-54.
Boys vs. Tattnall
The boys game was a tighter contest, with Toombs ultimately prevailing 53-43. The Bulldogs led 14-8 after the first quarter, but Tattnall fought back to take a 2625 lead into halftime. Toombs regained control in the third quarter, taking a 38-34 advantage, and held on down the stretch to secure their second win of the week.
This week the Lady Bulldogs will be off, but the boys will be back in action the day after Christmas in the Paul Thigpen Christmas Tournament at Vidalia High School. They will face Burke County at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and then will play Paxon School For Advanced Studies on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
