MCHS Faces Tough 3-Game Stretch

The Montgomery County High School Eagles basketball teams faced a demanding schedule this week, playing three games in five days. The Eagles traveled to Wilkinson County on Tuesday before hosting Toombs County on Thursday and Dooly County on Saturday.

Tuesday: at Wilkinson Co.

The Eagles opened the week on the road in Irwinton against the Warriors of Wilkinson County. The Lady Eagles struggled to find their offensive rhythm, falling to the Lady Warriors 29-13.

In the nightcap, the boys’ team secured the only victory of the week for MCHS. The Eagles played a solid game from start to finish, defeating the Warriors 79-70 to start the week 1-0.

Thursday: vs. Toombs Co.

On Thursday, Montgomery County hosted local rivals Toombs County. In the girls' game, the Lady Bulldogs pulled away early to secure a dominant 4322 victory over the Lady Eagles.

The boys' game saw Toombs County complete the sweep with a 60-45 win. The game was tight early on, with Toombs holding a slim 14-13 advantage after the first quarter. The Bulldogs pushed their lead to 29-23 by halftime. The third quarter proved decisive as Toombs broke the game open, jumping ahead 52-32 before cruising to the final margin. Saturday: vs. Dooly Co.

The week concluded with a visit from the Dooly County Bobcats. The Lady Bobcats controlled the opener, rolling to a 65-28 victory over the Lady Eagles.

The final matchup of the week was a battle, but the MCHS boys came up just short. Despite a competitive effort, the Eagles fell to the Bobcats 61-58.

This week the Eagles hosted Bacon County on Monday after presstime. They will be back in action next Monday when they travel to Bacon County at 1:00 p.m.
