Busy Week For Eagles
It was a challenging three-game stretch for the Montgomery County High School basketball teams this week. The Lady Eagles dropped all three contests, while the boys salvaged the week with a road victory against Dooly County on Saturday.
MCHS hosted the Wilkinson County Warriors on Tuesday and the Pierce County Bears on Thursday before traveling to face the Dooly County Bobcats over the weekend.
Tuesday vs. Wilkinson Co.
The week began with a pair of losses at home against Wilkinson County. In the girls' matchup, the Lady Eagles struggled offensively in a 29-18 defeat. The boys followed but fell to the Warriors, 63-42. Thursday vs. Pierce Co.
On Thursday, the Lady Bears of Pierce County dominated the opener, rolling to a 53-13 win over Montgomery.
The boys’ game proved to be a thriller. Pierce took an early 12-10 lead after the first quarter and held a narrow 33-30 advantage at halftime. The Eagles fought back in the third, cutting the deficit to a single point at 45-44. Despite the rally, Pierce held on in the final frame to secure a 66-63 victory.
Saturday at Dooly Co.
The teams traveled to Dooly County on Saturday to wrap up the week. The Lady Eagles fell 48-36, despite a solid performance from Tamarley Hansley, who led MCHS with 14 points.
The boys closed out the schedule on a high note, defeating the Bobcats 52-47. The Eagles used a balanced offensive attack to secure the win, with Stekanye Tate being the only player in double figures with 12 points.
The Eagles will keep busy leading up to the Christmas holiday. They were at Wilinson County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday at Toombs County at 6:00 p.m., will host Dooly County on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., and then on Monday of next week will host Bacon County at 1:00 p.m.
