State Representative Leesa Hagan learned more about the numerous Career, Technological, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways and courses that Montgomery County Schools has to offer when she visited the district’s CTAE District Advisory Committee Meeting on Tuesday, December 2.
The district emphasized their gratitude for Hagan’s presence, as they thanked her for taking time out of her schedule to attend the meeting.
The meeting focused on the district’s goal of continuing to grow and expand these education options for students within the district, as committee members reviewed the current CTAE pathways offered at Montgomery County High School and discussed the school’s partnership with the Southeastern Early College and Career Academy (SECCA), which provides students with access to additional pathways – such as cosmetology, automotive maintenance, and more – not yet available on the school’s campus. The group examined the current enrollment numbers of students in CTAE courses, reviewed End-Of-Pathway assessment data, and discussed updates on the Accelerated Career Diploma program.
Committee members thoroughly discussed the recently released high demand career job listings, which will go into effect on January 1, to determine how these changes will more closely align with state and local workforce needs.
Several Career and Technical Student Organization representatives – such as Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Adviser Tyrone Madison; Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Adviser Sarabeth Worth; and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Advisers Nicole Smith and Brittany Braddy – highlighted recent accomplishments and events from
their programs. According to Montgomery County Schools, the CTAE District Advisory Committee plays a vital role in strengthening CTAE programs by providing industry insight, community partnerships, and strategic direction that help ensure students graduate with the skills, credentials, and experiences needed for success in the workplace. Their guidance shapes the trajectory of each CTAE pathway, making them invaluable partners in preparing Montgomery County’s workforce of the future.
