Christmas Rolls Into Area

Holly jolly celebrations are continuing throughout the area, as several cities host their annual Christmas parades and celebrations this weekend.

The Glenwood Christmas Parade will kick off a weekend of yuletide cheer across the region, as the parade hits the streets at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13. The parade will follow its traditional route. For more information, call (912) 523-5223.

City of Alamo

The City of Alamo will host their annual Christmas in the City celebration from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. in downtown Alamo on Saturday, December 13. The event was previously slated to be held last Saturday, December 6, but was postponed due to rain. The celebration will feature over 40 vendors who will line the streets to sell food, crafts, jewelry, and more to all looking for Christmas presents for their loved ones. The Tres Hombres band will hit the stage, bringing an exciting medley of classics to the streets, and kids activities, such as a train ride, will be available. All citizens are invited to peruse the booths, enjoy music, and fellowship with one another during this most wonderful time of the year.

The Alamo Christmas Parade will roll through the city at 6 p.m., as the Wheeler County High School Bulldogs football team will lead the way.

The City of Mount Vernon will host their annual Christmas celebration throughout the day on Saturday, December 13, complete with a Wreaths Across America ceremony, vendor market, parade, and Christmas tree lighting.

The day will begin with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Chapter honoring late veterans with the annual Wreaths Across America event at 12 p.m. on the Montgomery County Courthouse. The ceremony is public and the community is encouraged to attend to honor those who served in the military.

Vendors will begin selling their wares on the Montgomery County Courthouse square at 2 p.m., and the Mount Vernon Christmas Parade will roll through the town at 4 p.m. The parade will follow the traditional route.

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony will officially light up the Montgomery County Courthouse Square for the season at 7 p.m.
