A man facing a kidnapping charge has been sentenced and will now spend 30 years within the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Billy Otis Hood appeared in court on Monday, November 17, submitting a guilty plea to the court for a single charge of kidnapping. Hood was indicted on the charge by the Toombs County Grand Jury earlier this year, after the man was accused of att empting to kidnap a little girl in Lyons. O n May 5, A young boy and girl were playing outside of a home in Lyons when a man approached them. The man, later identified as Billy Otis Hood, grabbed the little girl, put his hand over her mouth, and told her not to scream. The little boy immediately jumped into action and ran inside to tell his grandmother about the incident. When the boy ran inside to tell an adult, Hood dropped the young girl and fled from the scene. Lyons Police Officers soon located Hood and arrested him, initially charging him with kidnapping and battery.

Hood was sentenced to spend 30 years within the Georgia Department of Corrections – at least 10 years of which must be served in prison.
