Fox Theatre, through its philanthropic arm, Fox Gives, and the Georgia Public Library Service are once again partnering to send the popular Fox in a Box exhibit on a statewide tour of public libraries. The exhibit is on display at the Spivey Library in Vidalia now through Friday December 12, 2025. Fox in a Box, the historic theater’s educational experience, is designed to teach participants about the rich history of the Fox Theatre and how its significant events intersect with key events in US history. Since its inception, Fox in a Box has reached more than 68,000 students and educators across 175 schools, and since its first Georgia Public Library Service tour, the program has visited dozens of libraries and provided entertainment and learning opportunities to thousands of library patrons.
“We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to grow our partnership with Georgia Public Library Service and take Fox in a Box beyond the metro Atlanta area,” said Leigh Burns, Director of Community Partnerships for Fox Gives. “The interactive exhibit now reaches more of Georgia’s 159 counties, helping us increase the awareness and sustainability of historic theaters and cultural centers beyond our own home here at the Fox.”
While hosting the exhibit, the library will host two programs highlighting the history of the Fox Theater. These programs will be held in the library’s community room on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. and Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public Monday– Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Visitors can explore the exhibit with a self-guided tour guide, available at the circulation desk, or join a free guided tour. For visitors preferring a guided experience, tours will be offered on select Wednesdays and Fridays.
Wednesday tours are scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.
Friday tours are scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 21, Dec. 5, and Dec. 12.
“The Fox in a Box exhibit is another fantastic benefit of your free library card, and we’re so pleased to continue our relationship with Fox Gives and their outstanding cultural programming,” said Julie Walker, vice chancellor for libraries and archives and state librarian.
By working with more than 30 outside organizations, including other government agencies, nonprofits and businesses, Georgia Public Library partnership programs provide free access to activities exploring art, literature, history, culture, science and nature. Patrons can visit their local library to check out experience passes, tour a traveling exhibition or explore engaging programs for all ages. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Service.
