Sally D. Meadows Elementary School Media Specialist Sarah Beck has been nominated for the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement Hidden Heroes Award, which celebrates individuals that have greatly impacted their school and the greater community.

This award is open to all kindergarten through 12th grade educators, and any other education staff, such as bus drivers, administrators, human resource officers, superintendents, etc, who make an impact on their school, which further impacts the community. Ultimately, the Hidden Heroes Award program illuminates how impactful the education profession is on community thriving, recognizing that educators are the workforce that makes every other workforce possible.

Beck was nominated for the award by an anonymous source, who wrote, “Mrs. Beck is an integral part of the Sally D. Meadows Elementary and Vidalia City Schools community. Her title is media specialist but she is so much more to the students and staff! Mrs. Beck is always ready to lend a hand and her skill set is both deep and wide. She leads the school's Brave Minds initiative, serves on the school leadership team, manages the school website, serves as the site testing coordinator, manages school tech support, and so much more. Mrs. Beck is always ready to lend a hand!”

The community will now have the opportunity to help Beck to earn a cash prize, as they may go online to hiddenheroes.glisi. org/2025/gallery and vote for her. Individuals may only cast one vote per day, and the top 3 vote-getters from each region will receive a cash prize.

Voting is free and open until 5 p.m. on November 21; winners will be announced on December 1.
