Lady Vikings Fall In Playoffs

The Treutlen County High School Lady Vikings softball team saw their season come to a close last week after a tough road trip to face the Trion Lady Bulldogs in the first round of the GHSA Class A Division 2 State Playoffs.

Treutlen County traveled for the best-ofthree series and ultimately fell to Trion in 2 games on Monday, ending their playoff run.

Game 1

The Lady Vikings fell 5-0 in the opening game. Trion took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring twice on a basesloaded walk and a sacrifice fly. They added 2 more runs in the second inning before a single in the third extended the lead to 5-0.

Offensively, the Lady Vikings struggled to string hits together. Jayden Rogers and Ella Roberson each managed 1 hit for Treutlen. Rogers showed her speed, swiping 2 bases in the contest.

Game 2

The Lady Bulldogs clinched the series in the second game, handing the Lady Vikings a 9-2 loss.

Trion jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning with a 3-run triple. They added runs in the second and third innings, pushing their advantage to 5-0.

Treutlen got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning, narrowing the lead to 5-1. However, Trion responded with 3 more runs in the top of the fifth to make the score 8- 1.

The Lady Vikings scored their second run in the bottom of the fifth, but Trion answered with 1 more run in the sixth on their way to the 9-2 victory.

Taylor Gillis and Cloey Hutcheson led the Treutlen offense, each collecting 2 hits in the game. Gillis and Jayden Rogers were responsible for driving in the Lady Vikings' 2 runs.

The Treutlen County Lady Vikings battled hard on the road but couldn't overcome the Trion Lady Bulldogs' strong start in both games. This concludes the record breaking season for the Lady Vikings.
