Eagles Roll Over CCA

The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles football team soared to a dominant victory last Friday night, defeating the Citizens Christian Academy Patriots 64-20 in a highscoring affair on their home turf.

The Eagles came out strong right from the kickoff, establishing a commanding lead early in the game. Quarterback Jake Adams was instrumental, scoring the first touchdown of the night on a rushing play. The 2-point conversion failed, but the Eagles were ahead 6-0. The scoring flurry continued when Dylan Green made a massive impact on defense, recovering a fumble and returning it for a touchdown. Adams then successfully rushed for the 2-point conversion to put VHA up 14-0 in the first quarter, which is how the quarter ended.

The Eagles extended their lead in the second quarter. Trevor White punched in a rushing touchdown, and the subsequent 2-point conversion was successful with a pass from Adams to White, pushing the score to 22-0. Adams found the end zone again with another rushing touchdown, and Sergei Fontaine converted the extra point, making it 29-0.

Though the Patriots managed to get on the board with a rushing touchdown midway through the quarter (2-point conversion failed), Adams connected with Pearson O'Neal for a passing touchdown late in the half. Fontaine added the extra point, sending the Eagles into halftime with a comfortable 36-6 lead.

Citizens Christian opened the third quarter with a kick return touchdown, but missed the 2-point conversion, bringing the score to 3612. The Eagles were quick to respond. Adams threw his second touchdown pass of the night, connecting with Green. Adams then rushed for the 2-point conversion, making the score 44-12.

The Patriots added another touchdown on a passing play. They added the 2-point conversion to close the lead to 44-20.

Adams quickly answered with his third rushing touchdown of he night. The PAT was missed, but VHA held a 50-20 lead. The Vidalia Heritage defense continued to make major plays, and Green once again recovered a fumble for a touchdown—his second defensive score of the night—to extend the lead to 56-20 by the end of the third quarter (PAT missed).

White added his second rushing touchdown of the night in the fourth quarter. To cap off the victory, Adams completed a pass to O'Neal for the final 2-point conversion, sealing the impressive 64-20 win for the Eagles.

The balanced offensive attack, led by Adams, White, and O'Neal, coupled with the phenomenal defensive performance that included 2 fumble-return touchdowns by Green, proved too much for the Patriots.

The Eagles are now 7-1 on the season and they are 6-1 in Region play. They will wrap up the regular season this week on the road at Fullington Academy, which is also a Region game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
