Treutlen Softball Dominates Foes

The Treutlen County High School Lady Vikings softball team picked up two wins last week as they improved their overall record to 15-4. But they are 6-4 in Region play where they are hanging onto fourth place. They will close out the regular season this week, but they do not have any more Region games.

Last week the Vikings picked up two easy wins as they defeated Warner Robins on Monday and then rolled over McIntosh County Academy on Wednesday. vs. Warner Robins The Lady Vikings crushed the Lady Demons of Warner Robins with a final score of 18-1 on Mondayof last week, demonstrating a potent offense that was highlighted by a massive 10-run third inning.

The Vikings got on the board in the first inning after Ella Roberson came through with an RBI double, Maya Brinson scored the second run after a sacrifice fly, and Cloey Hutcheson drove in a run with an RBI single making the score 3-0. Warner Robins scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.

The second inning saw the Vikings tack on 5 more runs, pushing their lead to 8-1. Maya Brinson walked with the bases loaded to bring in a run, and then 2 more runs came in on balls hit by Ella Roberson and Ruthie Blair. The Vikings plated 2 more runs on errors by Warner Robins.

The game was sealed in the third inning with a dominant 10-run rally, which began with Jayden Rogers singling for 2 RBIs. This was followed by singles from Maya Brinson, Ella Roberson, and Ruthie Blair, each driving in a run or 2. Adding to the surge, Addyson Horne and Desirrae Bright each drew a walk, scoring 1 run, Jayden Rogers drew a walk, scoring 1 run, and Maya Brinson singled, scoring 1 run. By the end of the inning, the Vikings were up 18-1. They held in the bottom of the frame to win the game by the run rule. vs. MCA

The Treutlen Varsity Vikings softball team dominated the Lady Buccaneers of McIntosh County Academy with a commanding 13-1 victory on Wednesday. The Vikings' offense exploded in the early innings, securing the run-rule win.

The game was marked by an outstanding performance from Ruthie Blair, who crushed 2 home runs and drove in 3 runs for the Vikings, sending balls over the fence in both the first and third innings.

McIntosh County Academy actually scored first, briefly taking the lead in the first inning on a steal of home. However, the Vikings responded in the bottom of the first with a 7-run rally that quickly flipped the script. The scoring barrage included an inside-the-park home run by Ruthie Blair that scored 2 runs, a single by Cloey Hutcheson that brought in 2 runs, Jada Wright singling to score 2 runs, and Jayden Rogers doubling for an RBI.

The lead grew even wider in the bottom of the second inning as the Vikings plated 5 more runs on 7 hits. This second-inning surge was powered by Cloey Hutcheson tripling to score 1 run, Taylor Gillis doubling for 2 RBIs, an error that scored 1 run, and Desirrae Bright singling to score the final run of the frame. That put the Lady Vikings on top 12-1.

Treutlen added one more run on another inside- the-park home run by Blair in the third inning on the way to the 13-1 victory.

This week Truetlen was at Putnam County on Tuesday after presstime. They will close out the regular season with a double header on Wednesday at home against Tattnall County. The first game will start at 4:00 p.m.
