RTCA Picks Up Win Over Heritage

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Lady Crusaders softball team dropped a close game to Citizens Christian last Tuesday, but bounced back with a win over Vidalia Heritage Academy on Thursday. They will wrap up the regular season this week. RTCA is 14-8 on the season, and they are 8-3 in the Region, sitting in third place behind CCA and David Emanuel. vs. CCA

In the top of the first inning, an EBI double from Chesney Burch put RTCA on top 1-0, but CCA stormed back in the bottom of the second inning with 3 runs to take a 3-1 lead over the Crusaders. CCA added a run in the third inning to push their lead to 4-1.

RTCA plated a run in the top of the fourth inning, but CCA answered in the bottom half to lead, 5-2. RTCA picked up another run in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth as they closed the lead to 5-4, but they could not come up with any more, falling to CCA, 5-4. vs. Heritage

Annabelle Coe drove in the first run of the game for RTCA in the bottom of the first inning. The Crusaders added 3 more runs in the inning to take an early 4-0 lead over the Lady Eagles of VHA.

Then RTCA blew the game open in the bottom of the third inning with 9 more runs. RTCA got RBIs from Braylin Pittman, Kinsley Kennedy, and Anna Kate Joyner. Elin Haygood had a big 2-run triple.Amelia Mercer drove in a run, as did Coe and Mary Frances Stanley. By the end of the inning RTCA held a 14-0 lead.

The Crusaders held in the top of the fourth inning to take the win by the run rule, 13-0.

This week RTCA played DEA on Monday after presstime in a key Region contest. They will wrap up the season with 2 nonregion games with Charlton County on Wednesday on the road at 5:00 p.m. and then RTCA will host Windsor Academy on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
