The Vidalia High School Indians cross country team hit the road to compete in the Bleckley County Invitational featuring many of the fastest runners in the state, but that did not deter the Indians from bringing home some hardware.

Judith Hussey ran an exceptional race finishing 15 out of 140 runners. For the boys there were 297 runners 25 teams, yet the Indians stepped up to the line and raced with the best of the best bringing home a 5th place finish as a team. Making the podium was Cash Driggers with 11 place finish, Wyatt Vassey placing 18, Simon Collins placing 21 and Greg Taylor placing 23.

Coach Mandy Godbee said, “This meet showcases one of the most challenging courses in the state and some of the best competition as well. I am so proud of how our athletes stepped up and fought through the course. Athletes that fell shy of placing in this race, did though, run their best times on this course ever. They have grown and developed exponentially this season and continue to pursue their goals moving forward.”

Next up for the Indians is the Three Rivers Classic on October 9 at Jeff Davis.
