The JR Tripple Middle School Lady Chiefs softball team capped off the perfect Region season with a Region Championship over Toombs County last week. The Chiefs were 13-4 on the year and were 7-0 in Region action. They finished off the season last week with wins over South Tattnall and Toombs County. vs. S. Tattnall

The JR Trippe Lady Chiefs softball team secured a hard-fought victory on Tuesday, September 23, defeating the South Tattnall Middle School squad by a score of 4-1. The win was anchored by a phenomenal pitching performance and a crucial third-inning rally that put the Lady Chiefs in control.

The story of the game was the dominant performance delivered by righthanded pitcher Tenley Blewett. Blewett was sharp in the circle for the Lady Chiefs, ringing up 10 strikeouts over 6 impressive innings. She limited the South Tattnall offense to just 3 hits and 1 walk while allowing only 1 run to cross the plate.

South Tattnall Middle School initially took the lead, opening the scoring in the second inning after an error allowed 1 run to score. However, the Lady Chiefs quickly answered back and jumped ahead in the bottom of the third inning.

The rally began with a single to center field by Britleigh Sharpton. Pitcher Tenley Blewett then helped her own cause with a single that lined down the right field line. The Lady Chiefs capitalized on aggressive base running and a fielding error committed by South Tattnall, which allowed 3 runs to score and put Trippe in the lead, 3-1.

Trippe added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning on the way to the 4-1 win over South Tattnall vs. Toombs Region Championship The Lady Chiefs continued their winning ways on Thursday, September 25, securing a narrow 2-1 victory over Toombs County Middle School. The contest was a true pitcher's duel, but timely hitting allowed the Lady Chiefs to edge out the win.

For the second time this week, Tenley Blewett was outstanding on the mound for the Lady Chiefs. Blewett started the game and pitched all 6 innings, surrendering just 2 hits and 1 run. Blewett kept Toombs County offbalance all afternoon, striking out 4 batters while issuing no walks. She recorded all 18 outs for Trippe to earn the decision.

The Lady Chiefs’ offense was focused and efficient, needing just 1 key hit to provide all the necessary scoring. That moment came in the bottom of the second inning when Jenna Fountain came through with a critical single, putting the Lady Chiefs on the board, taking a 2-0 lead.

Toombs did pick up a run in the top of the fourth inning, but that was all they could get as Trippe took the win, 2-1.

Fountain was responsible for both runs batted in for the Lady Chiefs, leading the team with 2 RBIs from the number 9 spot in the lineup.

With the win the Lady Chiefs earned the Region Championship.
