The Toombs County Republican Party will host a candidate forum to help voters learn more about the individuals seeking the State School Superintendent position at Southeastern Technical College at 6 p.m. on October 14. The State School Superintendent elections will be held in 2026, and currently, five candidates are vying for the seat. These candidates include incumbent State School Superintendent Richard Woods, and challengers Dr. Bubba Longgrear of Metter, Dr. Randell Trammell of Cartersville, Dr. Nelva Lee of McDonough, and Mesha Mainor of Atlanta. During the event, community members will be able to interact with the candidates, who will share their insights on policies and inform the public of their visions for Georgia’s education system.
Prior to the candidate forum, the Toombs County Republican Party will host a brief memorial honoring Charlie Kirk, a political activist who was assassinated on September 10 at Utah Valley University. The Party invites community members to arrive early to the forum and to take part in remembering Kirk’s contributions to American politics.
The candidate forum is free to the public. For more information, contact Toombs County Republican Party Chairwoman Trish Poole at (912) 2934478.
