MCHS Eagles Lose Heartbreaker To Telfair

The Eagles football team of Montgomery County High School lost a hard fought battle to the Trojans of Telfair County last Friday night in McRae. It was a game that came down to the wire with Telfair pulling out a 24-21 win over the Eagles.
The Eagles took the early lead on a 37-yard touchdown pass to Jaquez Kelly. They tacked on the extra point to take a 7-0 lead.
Telfair scored the next 10 points with a touchdown and a field goal to jump into the lead, 10-7, but then the Eagles connected on a 45-yard pass for a touchdown to take the lead back. Rilynn Dees found Kelly again, this time down the left side for the big play. With the extra point, MCHS led 14-10.
Telfair came back again with a touchdown to take the lead, 17-14.
Both teams continued to battle over the second half of the game, but the Trojans pulled out the win, 24-21over the Eagles.
Dees was 10-24 passing for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jaquez Kelly had 145 yards receiving, and Elijah McEwen rushed for 80 yards.
It is Homecoming this week for MCHS as they host the Bobcats of Dooly County. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. There will be a parade on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. as well for Homecoming.
