RTCA kept fighting hard, but were outmatched by Brentwood’s Lady Eagles. Brentwood picked up a run in the top of the first inning and another in the second to take a 2-0 lead. RTCA jumped into the lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double by Chesney Burch that scored two runs, and an EBI from Elin Haygood. That put RTCA on top, 3-2.
That lead didn’t last long as Brentwood plated seven runs in the top of the third inning to take a 9-3 lead. They added three more in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 12-3. RTCA picked up one more run in the fifth inning, but that was all they could muster in the 12-4 loss.
This week RTCA was at Brentwood on Monday, and hosted Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday, both after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to DEA at 4:00 p.m. With just a couple of weeks left in the season the Crusaders still have a chance at taking the #1 spot in the Region.
