Heritage Over Highlanders

It was an up and down week for the Lady Eagles softball team of Vidalia Heritage Academy last week. They were run ruled by Twiggs Academy on Tuesday of last week, but bounced back with a run rule win over First Preparatory Christian Academy on Thursday. They were scheduled to play a second game with FPCA, but that was called in the second inning. vs. Twiggs

Heritage had just one hit in their game against Twiggs Academy on Tuesday and that came from Miranda Morgan.

Twiggs kicked things off with seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. VHA did score a run in the top of the second inning when Zoe Caraballo crossed the plate, but that was all the Lady Eagles could get. Twiggs added five more runs in the second inning and four more in the third to take the win by the run rule, 16-1. vs. FPCA

This game was all VHA as they rolled over the Lady Highlanders of FPCA, with Allison McLain leading the way with 5 RBIs on the day for Heritage.

In the top of the first inning, McLain drove in two runs with an RBI double, and Zoe Caraballo added an RBI triple as VHA took a 3-0 lead. Another run crossed on an error, and then Laura King added an RBI single. Another error on FPCA pushed the lead to 5-0.

FPCA did score a run in the bottom of the first inning, but VHA answered in the top of the second inning with three more runs. A couple more runs scored on errors by FPCA, they had seven total in the game, and then an RBI hit by King pushed the lead to 8-1.

Three more from VHA in the top of the third inning made it 11-1. FPCA plated one more in the third, but four more runs from Heritage in the top of the fourth inning gave the Eagles a 15-2 lead. FPCA did add one more in the bottom of the inning, but that was all as Heritage took the win, 15-3.

That was the first win of the season for the Lady Eagles, who are now 1-8 overall, and 1-8 in Region play. This week they face Region #1 Citizens Christian on Monday and then Central Fellowship Christian Academy on Tuesday, both after presstime. VHA will have the rest of the week off and then will host Central Fellowship next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
