VHS XC Runs In Hazlehurst

The Vidalia High School Indians cross country team delivered an outstanding performance at the South Georgia Championship on September 11, showcasing their talent and depth against a competitive field of 23 teams.
Boys
The boys’ varsity squad secured a strong fourth-place finish out of 23 teams, led by senior Cash Driggers, who crossed the finish line in 11th place. Close behind, Simon Collins took 17th, Wyatt Vassey claimed 18th with a personal best, and Greg Taylor finished 19th with a personal best, demonstrating the team’s tight pack running. Marvin Onate rounded out the top five for Vidalia with a huge personal best.
“Our boys ran with incredible determination and teamwork,” said Head Mandy Godbee. “Marvin’s breakthrough performance was a gamechanger, and we’re thrilled with the fourth-place finish.”
Girls
The Lady Indians also turned heads, led by Judith Hussey’s stellar 11th-place finish in the girls’ varsity race. Cannon Sharpton, Dayanna Onate, and Stella Siegmund all achieved personal best times, showcasing their growth and resilience. Giselle Garcia rounded out the top five, contributing to a strong team effort.
“Judith set the tone, and the personal bests from Cannon, Dayanna, and Stella show how hard these girls are working,” Coach Godbee said. “This meet was a big step forward for us.”
With personal bests and a strong team showing at the South Georgia Championship, the Vidalia High School cross country team is poised for a competitive postseason.
