Heritage Defeats DEA


The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles football team, led by a dominant rushing attack, defeated the David Emanuel Academy Eagles in a hardfought road game last Friday night, 26-12. The win showcases the Eagles' strength on the ground and their ability to control the pace of the game.
The Vidalia Heritage offense set the tone early, with a rushing touchdown by senior quarterback Jake Adams in the first quarter, putting the Eagles up 6-0. The Eagles’ defense held strong, keeping David Emanuel Academy off the scoreboard on their next possession.
In the second quarter, the Eagles continued to pound the ball on the ground. Junior running back Trevor White broke through for another rushing touchdown, extending the lead to 12-0 heading into halftime.
The second half began with VHA kicking off to David Emanuel, but the momentum remained with the visiting Eagles. Jake Adams once again found the end zone with a rushing touchdown, his second of the night. This time, the Eagles successfully converted the extra point with a kick from Sergei Fontaine, making it a commanding 19-0 lead with eight minutes to go in the third quarter.
David Emanuel Academy finally answered in the fourth quarter with a rushing touchdown, but their own two-point conversion attempt failed, bringing the score to 196. Heritage, however, was not finished. Adams, a key part of the team's potent offense, capped off his impressive performance with a third rushing touchdown, further solidifying the Eagles' lead at 25-6. Sergei Fontaine's successful extra point made the score 26- 6 In the game's final moments, David Emanuel Academy scored a late passing touchdown, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Heritage's performance demonstrated a well-executed game plan focused on their powerful rushing attack, which proved to be the decisive factor in their victory.
Adams was 12-24 passing for 100 yards and he added another 110 yards on the ground. Trevor White rushed for 95 yards in the game.
Heritage improved their record to 3-1 on the season. It will be Homecoming this week for Heritage as they host Baker County with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
