In an exhilarating women's soccer match, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons triumphed over the Freed-Hardeman (TN) Lions in Mount Vernon on September 9, 2025. The regular season game concluded with a score of 2-1, getting the Barons back into the win column.

The game was tightly contested throughout the first half, which ended in a 1-1 tie. Both teams displayed great energy and competitiveness, but the Barons took control in the second half. Striker Laura Marin starred as the key player, scoring both goals for the Barons, including the game-winning goal. Goalkeeper Angel Camacho also received special recognition for her exceptional performance, including making eleven saves during the match, one of which was a crucial penalty shot in the 75th minute that could have given the Lions a 2-1 lead late in the game. Her efforts were instrumental in maintaining the tie for the Barons that Marin later capitalized on.

Head Coach Phillip Borde shared his thoughts on the team's performance. 'Thank God for the opportunity today to play and coach the sport we love. The game was hard-fought.

'We have been suffering with a ton of injuries, so it was nice to see the girls bounce back and get a win. Tactically, there are still things we need to clean up, but we take the wins any way we can get them. Now we need to prepare for the next one and focus on getting healthy. I thank God for protecting the players in a hard-fought match.'

The next match for Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons, currently holding a record of 2-3-0 for the season, is scheduled for September 13, 2025, against Albany State University in Albany, Ga. This upcoming game presents another opportunity for the Barons to demonstrate their skills and strive for another victory in their season.
