Wheeler County High School has announced the recipients of the monthly Student of the Month award for the month of September.

Each month, Wheeler County High School selects a student from each grade level to be recognized for their excellence inside and outside of the classroom through the Student of the Month award. Upon receiving the award, the students are presented with a certificate, recognition at all sporting events, monthly lunch, and a free pass to the Wheeler County football and softball games. Students recognized with the Student of the Month award also have their names placed in the Student of the Year drawing, which will be held at the end of the year.

September’s Students of the Month are Freshman Jake Henry, Sophomore Annmarie Adams, Junior Jonathan Cannon, and Senior Lane Connell.

Several students were also announced as honorable mentions for the award and may be potential recipients of the honor in the future: Brett Black, Dameon Grennell, Raylan Rodriguez, Jackson Scott, Lexie Wooten, Kolben Haymons, and Remington Smith.

FREE LITTLE LIBRARY – Montgomery County Schools and the Mount Vernon Garden Club recently collaborated through the “Literacy, Learning, and Life For All!” campaign to ensure that every child is reading on or above grade level by the end of 3rd grade by installing a free little library in downtown Mount Vernon. This resource allows students and families to explore books for free while enjoying the downtown scenery.
