Lady Vikings Over Dublin

The Lady Vikings softball team of Treutlen County High School played two games last week. The Vikings beat the Fighting Irish of Dublin on Wednesday, but fell to the Bulldogs of Wheeler County on Thursday. vs. Dublin

On Wednesday, the Lady Vikings defeated the Dublin Fighting Irish 12-8. Treutlen Vikings’ Taylor Gillis was a force at the plate, collecting five hits in five at-bats, including a triple in the second inning.

Treutlen took the early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The first run came on a sacrifice fly, and then an RBI double by Ruthie Blair to make it 2-0. Maya Brinson added an RBI single for the 3-0 lead.

Treutlen added two more runs in the second inning off of RBI singles by Ella Roberson and Blair. Dublin did pick up a run in the top of the third inning, but two more from Treutlen in the bottom of the frame pushed the lead to 7-1 on hits by Addyson Horne and Taylor Gillis.

Dublin added a run in the fourth an two more in the fifth to close the lead to 7-4, and then in the top of the sixth inning the Irish went on a run as they plated four runs to take an 8-7 lead over the Vikings.

Treutlen answered with five more runs in the bottom of the inning, including a two-RBI single by Gillis. That gave Treutln a 12-8 lead, which they held onto to win the game. vs. Wheeler

On Thursday, the Lady Vikings fell to the Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs 9- 0.

Wheeler scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead. They added five more in the fifth inning and two in the sixth on the way to the 9-0 win over the Vikings.

This week Treutlen played against Hawkinsville at home on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday against Warner Robins at home at 5:30 p.m.
