The Brewton-Parker Christian University men's soccer team lost two games last week as they fell to Middle Georgia State and SCAD. vs. Middle Georgia

The Brewton-Parker Christian University men's soccer team faced a challenging away game on September 4, 2025, against Middle Georgia State University. During this regular season meeting in Cochran, GA, the Barons struggled to find their form, ultimately conceding a 6-0 loss to the Knights.

From the beginning of the game, the Barons were under heavy pressure, trailing with a significant 4-0 score by halftime. Despite attempts to regroup and counteract the Knights' aggressive play, the Barons could not close the gap in the second half. Middle Georgia State, led by formidable performances, extended its lead to finalize the game at 6-0. The Barons' goalie, Diego Carrera, faced an intense challenge managing the offensive onslaught.

Reflecting on the tough loss, Head Coach Bob Nuemann remarked, 'There aren't many positives that can be drawn from a 6-0 defeat. The reality is that tonight we were only good for moments. However, in too many other moments we lacked clarity, ideas, and a willingness to make up the distance. It's still early in the season, so there is a good opportunity to learn and grow from this.' vs. SCAD

The game began defensively for both teams, with SCAD Savannah breaking the deadlock near the end of the first half. At 41:23, Sebastian Gomez scored the opening goal for SCAD Savannah, assisted by Mario Goic. Moments before the halftime whistle, SCAD widened its lead with a penalty kick goal by Mario Goic at 44:38, bringing the halftime score to 2-0 in favor of SCAD Savannah.

In the second half, the Barons were unable to turn the tide. Mario Goic continued his impressive performance, scoring his second and the match's third goal at 61:47, assisted by Kimi Husler. Diego Alejandro Mont, the goalie for Brewton-Parker, made a commendable effort with six saves throughout the match. However, the team's struggle was compounded by disciplinary issues, with multiple yellow cards and a red card given to Ilyas Nazih.

Head Coach Bob Neumann shared his opinion on the team's performance. 'It's not the result you want, but the performance was a step in the right direction. SCAD has a lot of weapons going forward, and we found a way to limit their production from open play. As we grow our way into the season, it's good to see the boys getting themselves up after the midweek match.

As I said to the players, it's a process. If we can utilize the amount of work we put in as a springboard, the results will start to swing in our favor.'

Looking forward, the Barons hope to recover from their current 1-3-0 record as they prepare to face Keiser University in Mount Vernon on September 13, 2025.
