Montgomery County Middle/High School Agriculture Teacher and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Advisor Nicole Smith was awarded the first Super Star Teacher award of the 2025/2026 School Year.

The Super Star Teacher award is an initiative the Chamber began in 2024 to honor the extraordinary teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty, and ultimately, impact lives. The program is overseen by Chamber Director of Operations Amber O’Connor, who spoke on the opportunity. “The Chamber is excited to be able to offer this program to our community! We couldn’t think of a more deserving group of professionals in our workplace to be recognized for their dedication to students and their community,” she remarked. “A Super Star Teacher demonstrates excellence in leadership in their classroom along with motivation for their students. They show a high level of commitment to not only their students but their community.”

The Chamber collects nominations for the award every month, then nominations are reviewed by monthly sponsors to select a winner, who is presented with the award and prizes during the school day. The sponsors for the August award were Cook Law Firm and Dermatology Associates.

During the presentation, presenters read out the nominations that earned Smith the award, as the nominating student, Macey Bradley, joined in on the recognition.

“Mrs. Nicole Smith has made a lasting impact on all of the students she has taught,” Bradley wrote. “Not only does she teach agriculture and advises the Montgomery County Middle School FFA Chapter, she teaches all of her students valuable life skills, such as leadership, public speaking, accountability, and so much more. She goes above and beyond to support every student, whether it’s staying late to help with contest preparation, cheering [students] on at events, or simply being someone [that students] can count on. Mrs. Smith’s dedication, heart, and commitment to her students and community make her the perfect choice for Super Star Teacher.”

“We are so proud of you, Nicole Smith,” Montgomery County Middle/ High School Principal Tracey McNeal remarked on the honor.

Nominations for the September Super Star Teacher award close on Sunday, August 31. The recipient of the award will be shared in coming weeks. To nominate someone, visit the Greater Vidalia Chamber’s website or email ambero@greatervidaliachamber. com.
